I can not believe how warm and rainy it has been this spring for us.
We’ve been fortunate enough to be able to enjoy the weather but it feels like every other day there is some rain. The kid’s soccer has been canceled quite a bit because of it, which has been a bummer for them. They’re excited to start games here soon.
//DIRE Updates
I’ve been slowly posting more and more on social media to help build a following. Granted I think most of my followers are bots I’m slowly getting more traction. The automated posts have been nice and it’s a great way for me to just let it do its thing and I can just jump in with comments here and there.
I spent some time reworking the DIRE Itch.io page to feel more inline with what I think the vibe is and help bring in some storytelling.
//New Projects
Right now I have 2 prototypes running. One is a car-based game where I’ve got a simple car up and running that you can pick stuff up with it and deliver those items to specific areas.
Each new prototype is an idea that I’m playing with for my next project. I’m not sure about any of the ideas yet and really just exploring things to see what feels right.
While I’m exploring the concepts I’m also trying some different art styles to see what feels right. Thematically I have no idea what the games would be but I’m trying two different directions to see what I like the best.
The second prototype is a bit more straightforward, it’s a first-person again and has some elements from immersive sims and dungeon crawlers in it. Nothing too solid yet just some ideas and concepts.
That being said it will probably be a while yet before I get anything concrete in place. For me personally I have to register with the concept and the story I want to tell then I can think about the gameplay. Which I know is a bit backwards, so this time I’m trying gameplay first then figure out the story after.
So don’t be surprised if you see all kinds of random art here and there as I’m trying different things out.
